Read the actual terms and effective events. Ownership or control may change at a later closing, so signature alone may not establish the relationship the filing relies on.
Identify the relationship at the relevant time
Use corporate records that show the parties, rights and dates, and obtain review of the actual arrangement. The required qualifying foreign employment, managerial or executive duties and doing-business evidence remain separate. Do not assume that a transaction announcement cures a missing relationship or that every organizational change necessarily destroys an otherwise qualifying history.
The first review should identify the governing condition and the record that proves it. Hypothetical example: a wind-turbine maintenance regional director after an affiliate purchase must decide which document or sequence actually resolves the issue before relying on a desired outcome. A complete record should show the fact, its source, and what remains prospective. L-1A requires a qualifying relationship, one continuous qualifying year abroad in the preceding three years, and genuinely managerial or executive duties. Review the evidence in that order, then decide whether to proceed, obtain a missing record, or change the plan. A generic letter, private payment, future chart, or travel reservation fails when it is used to prove a condition it does not establish.
The review outcome should identify the next document or action and state why an unsupported shortcut would fail. Keep the final presentation tied to the facts actually established, not to a hoped-for conclusion.
Record that decision in writing before relying on it.
