No automatic update should be assumed. Review the immigration implications for the principal and each family member using the actual transaction and current records.
Track individual status alongside the business change
A qualifying L spouse may work incident to valid status with applicable evidence; children do not receive that spouse benefit. Keep each person’s classification and validity dates visible. A commercial closing certificate is not a family status document, and an anticipated filing should not be treated as an authorization already obtained. Review material changes before the household relies on new work or travel plans.
The first review should separate each dependent’s relationship and plans from the principal case. Hypothetical example: a harbor-tug dispatcher planning family travel must decide which document or sequence actually resolves the issue before relying on a desired outcome. A complete record should show the fact, its source, and what remains prospective. L-1A requires a qualifying relationship, one continuous qualifying year abroad in the preceding three years, and genuinely managerial or executive duties. Review the evidence in that order, then decide whether to proceed, obtain a missing record, or change the plan. A generic letter, private payment, future chart, or travel reservation fails when it is used to prove a condition it does not establish.
The review outcome should identify the next document or action and state why an unsupported shortcut would fail. Keep the final presentation tied to the facts actually established, not to a hoped-for conclusion.
Record that decision in writing before relying on it.
