PROGRAMME BRIEFING · SHEFFORDShefford

A new route.Know the details.

Hypothetical example: a Granby applicant plans an international bank transfer for Gold Card. Identify the official payment stage, instruction and named applicant before arranging the transfer. A private invoice, a bank’s processing date and a government receipt answer different questions. A Gold Card review begins with the official program communication, not a private summary. It should identify the named applicant, vetting stage, payment purpose, government recipient, and separate employment-based eligibility record. A payment checklist and an immigration checklist answer different questions and should not be merged. Use the review sheet as a decision tool: it should show what can be proved today, what needs confirmation, and which commitment must wait. That discipline prevents a later explanation from being asked to repair a fact that should have been documented before the route was selected. Before acting, name the next verifiable step and the document that will confirm it. This turns preparation into a measured decision rather than an assumption that an attractive plan will answer an independent legal condition. Keep that decision log with the file so later changes can be compared with the evidence available when the route was chosen.

01

Use the instruction for the correct payment stage

The official process describes a nonrefundable US$15,000 DHS processing fee per person, vetting, then a government gift after successful vetting. As checked September 7, 2026, the gift is US$1 million for an individual principal or US$2 million per corporate-sponsored employee. Each eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and US$1 million, including under corporate sponsorship. Additional visa-related and medical charges may apply. Re-verify the official terms before any money moves. Reconcile the official instruction, sender identity, bank confirmation, and government acknowledgement in one chronology. The payment is by the applicant to the U.S. government; it is not capital invested for a return and the framework is never a conventional visa. A successful case still requires independent EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility, admissibility, and visa availability.

02

Reconcile payment evidence without assuming approval

Preserve the official instructions, bank confirmation and government acknowledgement. Explain any currency, reference or sender-name discrepancy through the actual records. The government gift is not EB-5 capital invested for return. Successful Gold Card cases proceed through EB-1 or EB-2, subject to category eligibility, admissibility and visa availability; a transfer confirmation does not establish residence or work authorization. Gold Card is an official program framework rather than a conventional standalone visa category, and its gift-plus-fee terms must be re-verified on the official site before any money moves. Before any transfer, confirm the official recipient and purpose against the current instruction. A bank may execute a payment accurately while the sender has selected the wrong stage or relied on outdated information. Keep the private adviser’s role visible but distinct from the government process and acknowledgement.

03

Keep corporate continuing charges visible

The current corporate FAQ describes 1% annual maintenance and a 5% transfer fee including a new DHS background check. It allows the prior employee’s gift to form the basis of a new sponsorship without another US$2 million gift under the official process, not automatic approval of a replacement. Review current instructions rather than reusing payment details from a different applicant or stage. Keep current official terms, payment stages, and private planning separate. A gift payment cannot cure an EB-1 or EB-2 deficiency, create work authorization, or guarantee residence. Verify the instruction and amount for every named person at the time of action. Do not describe a nonrefundable government payment as a refundable investment or a normal visa fee.
