Read the general professional work overview
Hypothetical example: a laboratory technician at a water-testing firm serving Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton and the surrounding rangs is offered work at a laboratory in New York State. She has a college diploma rather than a degree, and assumes that settles the matter. It does not necessarily, because the appendix does not apply one standard to everybody. Each listed profession carries its own qualification rule, and one entry in particular is built for people in exactly her position.
The appendix is a list of professions, each with its own condition
People speak of the TN degree requirement as though a single rule governed the classification. No single rule does. Most entries are satisfied by a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree. Some, such as Architect and Lawyer, can be answered by a state or provincial licence or bar membership instead of a degree. A handful accept a post-secondary diploma or certificate together with a stated number of years of experience. Before assembling anything, find the exact line in the appendix that names the profession and read the condition printed beside it, because the document you need to obtain follows from that line and from nothing else.
The entry built for technicians has an unusual shape
Scientific Technician or Technologist is the entry that catches attention here, because it requires no degree. What it requires instead is theoretical knowledge of one of the listed scientific disciplines, such as chemistry, biology or geology, together with either the ability to solve practical problems in that discipline or the ability to apply its principles to basic or applied research, and the work must be performed in direct support of professionals in that same field. That last condition does most of the work. The file therefore has to identify the supported professionals by name and qualification, and the employer's letter must describe a genuine supporting relationship rather than an independent technical role.
Make the letter and the credential answer the same question
A file fails when its two halves describe different jobs. If the entry relied upon is Scientific Technician or Technologist, the letter should say which discipline the work sits in, name the chemist or biologist supported, and describe the practical problems the applicant will resolve. The educational record should then evidence the theoretical knowledge claimed, whether by transcript, by course descriptions, or by both. Where any document is in French, a complete certified translation accompanies it. Take the original parchment and the transcript, not photocopies of a photocopy. Where the entry relied on turns instead on a licence, currency is what matters: a lapsed registration proves the past rather than the present, so obtain a certificate of standing dated within the preceding few weeks and carry it alongside the licence itself.
